Our Specialist Drama teacher introduces students to the world of Drama from Year 7 in a safe and enjoyable way through games and practical activities. Students develop skills in improvisation, script writing, mask work and storytelling. They have the opportunity to perform in school festivals and of course the school productions. Trips are organised to the West End to enable our students to be inspired by the performances on offer and there are a range of strong partnerships with Arts organisations.
Drama boosts self-confidence, communication and teamwork skills enabling students to discover the world around them from an alternative perspective. At Rushcroft we make cross-curricular links with the other Arts subjects and Citizenship, with a common theme to the work and the opportunity to develop Drama pieces exploring the real life learning of the Citizenship curriculum. Drama is a popular choice for KS4 students.
As part of the PE curriculum all KS3 pupils participate in a variety of Dance activities delivered by a specialist Dance teacher.
Students explore a range of Dance styles incorporating Dance from other cultures and eras, musical theatre and the development of choreography skills. Students have the opportunity to participate in Dance outside of the normal curriculum time with clubs at lunch time and after school and performances in school festivals, as well as the well established school productions
